What Is PVD Gold Plating?
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is an advanced vacuum coating technology that bonds gold to stainless steel at the molecular level. Unlike electroplating (0.5-2 microns), PVD creates a ceramic-hard layer 2-5 microns thick that is fundamentally more durable.
The process vaporizes solid gold in a high-vacuum chamber using an electric arc. Vaporized particles condense onto the stainless steel substrate, forming an extremely hard, uniform coating (2000-2500 HV Vickers hardness).
